Long Long Ago, in a pantomime far far away…
Get ready to celebrate the festive season with a dazzling clash of lightsabers
(now readily available from all good toyshops!) and the roar of Z-Wing fighters!
This is a wholly traditional Cinderella, but with every part of the story cunningly
transplanted into a fantastic spoof Star Wars-type galaxy, in a brand new pantomime,
Cinderella Interstellar!
You will recognise all the best-loved
elements of Cinderella in this highly inventive and original panto - from white
mice and plump pumpkins, to a glittering palace ball, and the famous glass slipper.
Not to mention one of the most wonderfully realised pairs of Ugly Sisters ever
created (in the words of the theatre critic of The Croydon Advertiser:
'may I be made to walk the space plank if these are not the best amateur Ugly
Sisters I have seen in many a season. Raucous, rowdy, and packing a knockout
punch.')
But in this Universe, Buttons
is a gleaming metallic droid codenamed Q4AP, and the broker's men pursuing
Cinderella's destitute father (retired Red-Eye Knight, Knobbi-Wan Oggi-Oggi-Oggi)
are space-hunk, Ham Solo, and his huge hairy sidekick, Shagpile the
Nookiee.
Cinderella's life of drudgery at
the mercy of her severely ugly stepsister, Andromeda and Nebula,
changes abruptly when she encounters the mysterious Skoda the Red-Eye
Godmother, and Luke Stargazy-Pie, dashing hero of the Rebel Alliance.
Together they set out to do cosmic battle with evil Dark Lord, Bath Spider,
and his teeming, foam rubber armoured minions, the dreaded Imperial Traffic
Wardens.
Assuming the guise of stunning star
princess, Leia Organic, Cinderella succeeds in hiding her true identity
until the final showdown in the lair of repulsive intergalactic criminal mastermind,
Grabba The Huss.
Does the drop-dead gorgeous Luke
discover Cinders' true identity? Does the crystal slipper fit? Is the Evil Empire
soundly drubbed by The Rebel Alliance? You'll have to read the script to find
out!
With scope for numerous explosions, laser battles, and a host of super special
effects, from shimmering pseudo-holograms, to star shuttles which actually lift
off, Cinderella Interstellar! is guaranteed to set the panto season off
with an almighty bang! An ingenious concoction sure to delight sci-fi fans,
movie buffs, and lovers of traditional pantomime alike! Truly out of this world…
